Aggregates in the form of crushed stone, gravel and sand are major materials used in the building and construction industry (primarily in concrete) and in road building (asphalt). Low-density aggregates made from FA and which may be used in the production of light-weight concretes for specialised applications or in innovative applications such as soil conditioning and water savers, represent a potential niche product of higher value for coal ash.
