ADAAAPRIL1307WiththeemergenceofclimatechangeasthebiggestchallengeofthiscenturytheCRCforLowCarbonLivingaimstoprovidethegovernmentandindustrywithsocialtechnologicalandpolicytoolstomotivatetheuseofcostefcientlowcarbonproductsandservices.StatisticallythiswillbethelargestprojectsincetheinceptionoftheCRCrunningfor7yearsanddueforcompletionin2020.Thisresearchseekstollanimportantvoidintheunderstandingoflowcarbonproductswheretheyhavetraditionallybeenthoughtunabletocompetewithintheindustrymarketduetocostandqualityconcerns.ThebuiltenvironmentisasignicanttargetfortheinitiativesofthisCRCasthemajorityoflowcostemissionssavingopportunitiesarefoundwithinthisareaofindustry.Thereforeitisbecauseofthispreviouslackofunderstandingandpragmatismthathasledtominimaldevelopmentintheminimisationofcarbonemissioninitiativesupuntilthispoint.ThemainstakeholdersinvolvedinthisprojectarethosewithdirectinvolvementinthebuiltenvironmentindustryincludingtheADAAwiththepotentialforthebenecialutilisationofcoalcombustionproducts.RepresentativesfromtheUniversityofNewSouthWalesjoinedADAAmembersattherstNationalTechnicalandPromotionMeetingfor2013toprovideanoverviewoftheirrstresearchprojectfundedundertheCRC.ThisinitialoneyearprojectwillfocusonmanufacturinglowemissiongeopolymerTheAustralianGreenInfrastructureCouncilAGIClaunchedtheInfrastructureSustainabilityISratingschemeinCanberralastyear.InadditiontolaunchingtheschemedeliveringtworoundsofISFoundationTrainingandcommencinginfrastructureprojectratingslastyeartheorganisationalsocommittedtoarebrand.Thereforeasof4thApril2013thisorganisationwillbeknownastheInfrastructureSustainabilityCouncilofAustraliaISCA.Thisrebrandgoeswellbeyondthenameandincludesanewwebsitewww.isca.org.auAdditionalupdatesincludeTherstISratingwillbeannouncedsoonWewillbelaunchingtheISschemeinQueenslandonthe18April2013bytheMinisterforNaturalResourcesandMinesHonAndrewCrippsMPAnewmembershipmodelhasbeendevelopedandisavailableonlineTheappointmentofMennoHenneveldrecentlytheCommissionerforMainRoadsWesternAustraliaasanIndependentDirectorTheADAAwillcontinuetosupporttheISCAasanimportantbodyforincreasedawarenessofsustainableinfrastructureinAustralia.concreteswithinexistingstandardsAS3600andAS5100.5.ThisprojectcomesundertherstofthreemainresearchprogramstobeundertakenoverthecourseoftheCRCi.Program1IntegratedBuildingSystemsii.Program2LowCarbonPrecinctsiii.Program3EngagedCommunitiesTheexpectedbenecialoutcomesforthe7yearCRCincludeAreductionincarbonemissionsby10MTCO2-eyrby2020Projectedeconomicbenetofover684millionAdoptionofgovernmentpoliciesandindustrybuildingmodelswhichsupportthe2050greenhouseemissionsreductiontargetforthebuiltenvironment88higherdegreebyresearchstudentswithdetailedexperienceinthelowcarbonbuiltenvironmentThebeginningofthisCRCwiththeofciallaunchtakingplaceonthe12thDecember2012marksanewandpositiveattitudetowardsthereductionofcarbonemissions.WATCHTHISSPACEFormoreinformationpleasevisitwww.lowcarbonlivingcrc.com.auUpdateCRCforLowCarbonLivingNewsUpdateAGICRebranded
