Federal Budget Announces Net Zero Authority Funding

 Lafarge Canada and TransAlta Corporation have formed a partnership to promote low-carbon concrete projects in Alberta. As part of this collaboration, they will use fly ash, a waste product from TransAlta's discontinued Canadian coal-fired electricity operations west of Edmonton, to replace cement in concrete production. This initiative is aimed at reducing carbon emissions and making better use of waste materials.

Funding Announced for Carbon Recycling

ADAA member Stanwell Corporations are continuously diverting hundreds of thousands of tonnes of coal combustion products (CCP) from landfill by treating it as a resource instead of as a waste. 

Fly ash has stepped up to the challenge once again, being utilised as the specialised concrete for an innovative bridge-replacement project in Orlando, Florida.

The ASTM Committee C09 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates in the US, has just approved revision of the ASTM C618 - Standard Specification for Coal Ash and Raw or Calcined Natural Pozzolan for Use in Concrete, in a unanimous vote, to include harvested coal ash and bottom ash. 

Coal ash is continually becoming a substantial asset that propels positive environmental, economic, and performance benefits to various high-value-added applications. Therefore, it is no wonder the beneficial use of coal ash continues to grow with approximately 60% of coal ash produced during 2021 being recycled.

Flying out of Brisbane Airport has never been so environmentally friendly..until now. A recent renewable energy agreement between ADAA member Stanwell Corporations and Brisbane Airport Corporate (BAC) has been established, enabling Brisbane Airport to be powered by 100% renewable energy. 

The standard relating to the sampling and testing of coal fly ash and natural pozzolans has had a two-item ballet published by the ASTM Subcommittee C09.24 on Supplementary cementitious Materials. The American Coal Ash Association Technical Committee are currently working to submit advice on the ballet, which is open until 2nd December 2022.
